Esquimalt Station. 2396
Lieutenant Stoneman left his baggage in the terminal area and headed for the administration area of the station. A high level of activity as many seemed to be in a state of transfer. With several vessels operating in the area it was just that time of the year when masses of replacements such as himself could be found wandering about. But John knew where he was headed his transfer to the USS Eagle was clearly known to him. Commander Carter the CO of the Eagle had contacted him several times while he was en route to the station.
Stoneman's journey to the station had many stops and he being a lieutenant was not given any quarters, so he had to ride out the trip in a seat. He was a large man and comfort was impossible after several days of travel. He could hardly suffer a walk when he got to Esquimalt. A good meal and a long stretch put John back on track quickly.
He headed to the Eagle and provided his orders and credentials at the ships security portal He new the crew of the Eagle was new, being a new Frigate but the vessel would be staffed accordingly with veteran personnel as a mater of necessity.
The Security Officer frowned. “I'm sorry Sir, loading has been suspended for a few minutes due to environmental concerns in the transfer corridor To the shuttle bay. I'm very sorry for the delay.” She smiled as she handed back his Padd. “However you are cleared to board as soon as the issue has been repaired. I will page you as soon as you can continue Sir.”
Stoneman returned her smile. “Things happen, I'm not expected right now anyway. But I'll take a look around the station and grab a bite to eat while I'm waiting. Any recommendations?”
“Oh yes sir, down the main corridor take a quick right and get some marvelous greasy food. If your looking for a bland and tasteless experience the main cafeteria is Two levels up.”
He was halfway through a huge cheeseburger when he heard his name being paged. Nodding to himself John shoved the rest of the mess into a recycler and headed for the boarding portal. As he arrived he was advised that Commander Carter had left word for him to meet in the observation lounge. He had passed the lounge earlier but hadn't had time to step in yet. It was close. He thanked the security officer and moved off to meet his new Commanding Officer.
