| General Overview | Outwardly Stoneman is a very serious individual. He always listens before speaking and can certainly hold his own in most all conversations. Polite and respectful to a fault to all those he comes into contact with. John has a deep voice and never prone to raising it above normal tones. Some think him as very reserved in nature. He remains stoic in stressful situations and is trusted by his friends and peers alike. Generally he hides a much softer side of himself until he gets to know people better. | Personal History | John Stoneman born in Oslo Norway on Earth in a private clinic. His mother Rebecca Stoneman was A socialite of high renown and the mistress of Commodore Edward Fannin a well known Starfleet Officer. The affair was a minor one resulting the pregnancy. To avoid total scandal the parents terminated the relationship shortly before John was born. Rebecca Stoneman vanished from her former life after having a child, returning to her parents home in Northern California. From a young age John was raised in the Stoneman estate with his grandparents and many family members. In his early life no experience to learn or explore was denied him. He was healthy and very well cared for. The Stoneman family had many Starfleet officers in it's history. Joining the fleet was a foregone conclusion. The young man was steeped in the tradition as his many cousins. The household was large and the children enrolled in a private school nearby funded by the Stoneman family trust. The school was strict in behavior. And lessens driven home to young minds every day. But this was tempered but visits to the Ocean and physical excersize promoted daily. John was a very good surfer and could run like a deer. Academically he was quick to learn new things and a polite child. Summer trips were very common and the entire family was in attendance. The Stoneman Kid's were shown many places and skills from other cultures on Earth. This expanded their education greatly. Buy the time John reached High school age he was flying small Aircraft and had to be restrained from his over zealous Uncles several times before he turned into a human lawn dart. But John showed some fearless skills. Those were toned down quite a bit when he arrived at Starfleet Academy in June of 2387. The Academy was the first time he was out on his own. He kept to himself following endless family advice and did well in all of his basic courses. Stoneman entered flight training and again had success. He desired to fly the great battleships. Ships of the line his dream always. Recovering from Graduation was daunting. But the new Starfleet Ensign held a high academic and pilot rating. His return home was riotous to say the least with many guests in and out of the fleet ranks. It was 2391 and Ensign Stoneman was as prepared as he could be. The USS Mercury was an older Fleet Frigate but a very capable crew. Stationed in the RNZ was a challenge and the young Ensign proved himself well standing a bridge watch. His life on the “Merc” was a challenge at every step and at the end of his first tour promoted to Lieutenant Junior grade. As fleet reassignments were few, John remained on the Mercury for another tour. This was optimal as he was enrolled in the bridge command course and passed with flying colors soon afterwards. It seemed the trials of 2393 and his service excelled his career greatly. Promoted to Lieutenant and second officer of the vessel and buy the end of 2395 the Executive Officer due to losses and transfer of crew. However there were rumors, His third tour was closing and there could be a good spot for him very soon... |
