Lise promptly pushed the doorchime to announce her arrival. It was these times she often made the first impression on CO's

Ajini had only been in her readyroom for a few hours, hell it was the first time she had spent any real time on the Eagle as of yet, well that wasn't getting her hands dirty with the engineers. Cater had just sat down with a coffee, a real coffee brewed from beans from Earth when the door chimed. She smiled, her first official meeting with one of her officers. "Come in" she called signaling the computer to open the door.

'She's human, late thirties, tall for a woman. Fascinating! A genetic mutation! dual eye shade and a very interesting hair color? She's rare. Her physical conditioning suggests a combat veteran from the Dominion War. And her hair style does not suit her at all, and she's trying to conceal her complexion. That's almost as vain as flaunting it, and it will prove to be horribly ineffective because it will make her even more desirable.'

Her mind was racing for a minute and she by habit already analyzed her new Commanding Officer. "Hello Captain, It is nice to meet you." When she spoke, it was always simple and straight to the point. Even Admiral Jellico's notes in her record stated she did not beat around the bush.

Carter smiled at her Chief Medical Officer. "It's nice to meet you as well" the commander indicated to the chair across from her. "Please, take a seat. Would you like a coffee?" There was of course a replicator in the room but Ajini liked fresh where she could get it, Thus the kitchen in the messhall.

"Makes my mind spin more than it already does. Tea please. I also agree. Replicators do not do food justice, as we're used to being nourished by other humans, as food made my other machines just seems so lifeless." Lise mentioned. "I do a lot of cooking in the galley, a hobby I have in my spare time, some of my creations will be in the Galley." She smiled.

Nodding Carter walked over to a small space behind her desk and poured almost boiling water from a small heating tank into a cup and then took it, along with milk, sugar and a selection of teas back to her desk and laid it in front of her Medical Chief. Take your pick, if i don't have a tea you like i will do for next time"

"We are fitting a full range kitchen in the galley as we speak, and i have managed to find a chef who is willing to serve on a ship like the Eagle"

"Good, make sure this chef doesn't mind me using the kitchen." She noted. "So, Patrol near Cardassian Space?" She picked up a PADD near Ajani. "Read the Neverending Sacrifice and the Goroosh's Enigma Tales. The best way to understand how to negotiate with a species is to understand their art and literature. Brace yourself. Propaganda, and a boring read, but insightful when you need to know how a Cardassian thinks." Lise put the books on the PADD.

Carter smiled at her, she was going to be interesting to work with. "I will be sure to read them. The Cardassians have had hard time of it lately. I hope that we will be able to stem the flow of the illegal activities happening." Ajani didn't bring up the other reasons they were here, but she was sure the Doctor would be informed soon enough. "The Cardassians in some of the outer sectors have been suffering from a number of illnesses. If you have not all ready could you contact The homeworld and request the details? See what we can do to help them given our resources."

"Hmm Illegal Activities?" Lise pondered. "Desperation and Lawlessness are close bedfellows, and I wonder if there is a reason for the illnesses and a reason for the lawlessness. Nothing happens without cause, Commander. Yes, I believe I will do just that, and I think I'll have more questions for officials on Cardassia than illnesses and lawlessness." Lise was pondering something.

"Try and avoid unduly upsetting anyone if you please. We might need their help in a crunch. That said, follow the thread to where it leads. I know we are a small ship with a small medical bay but if we can help those people we will do. Get on to the stations Quarter Master and request anything we can't replicate in bulk."

Lise nodded. "I'll make my inquiries as diplomatic as possible. I'll be as clear as I can. The Central Command, distasteful as it was, did save Cardassian cvilization, they also nearly doomed it by joining the Dominion. It's essential we assist these people, or someone else will. There are many Dukats in Cardassian Space, all of them wanting to tell a desperate people the Military would save them again." She mentioned. "Mistakes go in cycles."

"Indeed they do. Our presence in their space is prove of this. That said we do need to help them. Right now we have space in Cargo Bay 2. Fill it with medical supplies, Cargo Bay 1 has some space in the cold storage for you to fill as well. If you need help getting past the quarter master come ask, or tap the Admiral to help."

"I am going to request portable replicator units for the people we meet. Aid is one thing, but sustainment is another. Otherwise we're giving someone a fish to eat for a day." Lise noted. "And I'll drop by Intelligence. We can solve the desperation, but solving the lawlessness will require strategic thinking. Has our Chief of Tactical arrived yet? His role will be vital."

She shock her head "Not yet, most of the senior staff are yet to arrive at the station." Taking a sip of her coffee she closed her eyes for a moment "We are due to launch in a week's time, but i do have some wiggle room on that date. I do hope the senior staff will arrive. A number of problems are delaying them."

"Hoping we get an Intelligence officer. We need facts separated from the bullshit. Especially if we're going to be in battle." Lise suggested as blunt as ever. Still giving her CO advise as Second Officer. "I'll keep you informed."

Ajani kind of liked the Medical Chief, she was blunt and Carter had a suspicion that she was going to come to like that about her. "I will let you get back to work Lieutenant, but my..." she almost, for a moment said her door was always open, to the most literal person she had ever met. Visions of the Doctor letting herself into her ready room, or quarters flooded her imagination. "I am always available, with a little notice of course"

"I'll try not to bother you at 0200 with a report about cybernetic dinosaurs." Lise chuckled.

Ajani smiled "Appreciated. I look forward to working with you Doctor. If you have nothing else you are free to go" She watched the doctor leave, this was going to be one of her more interesting postings that was for sure
