R'Imus had just spoken with Captain Carter, she didn't like intelligence officers. He got that but he had assured her he was there for her, he wasn't assigned to the ship to investigate them but it was a fine line which he walked. Too far either way and he would lose the trust of either his fellow fleet officers, or Intel Command. This would mean he wouldn't have a job as ships intel officer, and he wasn't intending to back undercover, not after his last job.
The tall Romulan stepped into sickbay, his medical records had been sent across but a medical wasn't why he was here. A virus had been discovered, had infected some of the crew in fact and Carter had asked him for information on it. He had spent his career on the wrong side of the Federation to know or even have heard of it so he had done some digging before coming to see the CMO. It had been a surprising read, this virus had been created and was damn deadly, killing painfully within 3 days.
"Doctor" he said tapping on her office door but remaining outside until invited in.
The CMO looked up and noted the man's uniform. "Come in." she said calmly.
"Thank you ma'am" he said stepping into her office. If he were honest he had never met an Orion before, let alone known any had been in starfleet. "I am sorry to stare" he admitted with a smile, "I have some intelligence that Commander Carter has requested i read you in on. If you have time now?"
"Of course, please" she waved the officer to a chair. "I am just taking a break while tests run."
He took the offered chair and placed a padd on the desk. "So first," he winced and shrugged "Gotta lay out the procedures first. Well it is simple, I wasn't here and what i tell you I haven't told you" The Romulan smiled "Now that's out the way. That bug you found is a nasty little bugger, but we are lucky everyone else thinks it is a nasty little critter as well. As far as our resources can tell no one else has developed anything like it or gotten their hands on the technology either." Picking the padd up R'Imus brought up the correct information up. He handed the padd to the CMO.
She took the PADD. And raised an eyebrow at him."Do go on."
"That there are the classified documents and research of the original team, the Fleet managed to get hold it is before the primary sources were destroyed. It has been in the vault since." he gestured "It should give you a better starting place. This said, there has been rumors of a location with in Cardassian Space, a planet where this virus had struck in the past. The last we heard it had been abandoned, with everyone in the colony either dead or left."
"Well they sure know how to make a statement." She said as she gave a cursory glance at the PADD.
"Indeed, we do suspect that they killed everyone, rather than allowing anyone to leave and possibly spread such a deadly parathion. It is in line with how the Order worked back then. I have requested a search for any survivors. According to what has been found all the survivors of that world were killed during the Dominions purge of Cardassia." He shrugged "That is somewhat of a coincidence. It was to convenient for my liking!"
"And this only recently came to light?"
He smiled "We only found about this when the Obsidian Order fell, they really were very good at their jobs. I will miss em"
"Yes, I am sure the entire galaxy misses mass-genocidal people" the Orion's tone went frosty as the poles of Andoria. "Thank you for the information. It will assist with saving those who are infected."
The Romulan shrugged "The Obsidian Order did horrible things but there were some very good people with in their ranks. Every race has their dark spots." he stopped short of bringing her people up, that wouldn't win him any favors. "If you have any more questions or need any help just ask." he left her to her work, his presence would only aggravate her further if he remained.
Narisa watched him go, grimaced and turned back to her work.
