It took days to contact him, and finally Lise managed to track an informant down who could give her some names to start with. People who could capitalize on chaos in Cardassian Space. Lise finaly tapped her combadge. "Granger to Carter. I may have found a source. Come to my Astrometrics Lab please."

The commander had been on the bridge when the call connected. "On my way Lieutenant." She handed command over to a junior officer, they were still in space dock so not much for them to do. Moments later she walked through the duble doors into the room which had been designed originally by the crew of the Voyager. "Lets see it" she clearly said.

The image of a mid-aged Cardassian appeared. "Well hello there. How are you Doctor Granger. Doing well I hope, since it took you a great amount of effort to find a simple Tailor." Garak gave a smile like the cat who ate a canary. "Would you care to introduce your delightful associate?"

"Commander Ajani Carter, commander of the Eagle, and your reputation precedes you Mr. Garak."

"No one hems my dresses better." Lise noted. "I have questions, Garak. Do not worry, we will be discrete with how we handle this information.'

"Trust is a liability, mi'dear. But in your case... a measure of trust, yes." Garak noted.

"Need to know who can benefit from chaos in the Cardassian Union? Particularly sick or starving colonists." Lise noted.

Catrer decided on remaining quite and allowing the former Cardassian Spy turned diplomat to speak.

"Ahh, Ambition. Always a liability, that's why I am plain, simple Garrak. A very humble trader that is always at your service Doctor." Garrak noted. "I'm not a fan of the Central Command proping itself up again and sending people to try and kill me again and again. I did despise Gul Dukat, more so when he destroyed Cardassia for his vanity. If the Central Command comes back, then most certainly the Obsidian Order will rear its ugly head, and when that happens, you will have the misfortune of having to deal with snakes like Dukat once again. And that will not be good for anyone's selfish interests. No, it is in my interests keep Enabran Tain, and Dukat's ghosts locked away in their coffins for good.." Garrak mentioned with his wolfish smile.

"You assume you know of our mission into Cardassian space?"

Garak smirked. "I don't assume anything, but I am aware of the rather chaotic nature of the former demilitarized zone. Fertile ground for all kinds of agendas." The former spy noted. "As a matter of fact, I could provide you with some dossiers of certain individuals that need to accidentally run into a photon torpedo. They took their ships and disappeared after the final battle of the last war before they could surrender. Who knows what happened to them next. But a Ferengi associate of mine once said 'opportunity equals profit.'" Garak noted. "You might want to start with the dossiers I'm sending you. All of them are quite dangerous I might add, and pining for the old days like Dukat and Tain used to do. Now look at them. Both dead." Garak mentioned. "A word of advise to both of you bright and young faces. Ambition and Impatience will always lead you to an early grave. Best to become cautious, untrusting, and paranoid just like me. Look at me, I'm still alive, and Dukat is not. At least I'm still alive to hem women's dresses for the rest of my life."

Ajani Carter smiled, "I thank you for the information. I shall" she glanced at Granger "Inform the Fleet, i am sure they would like to have a word with them as well. Is there anything else you could help us with? Maybe a location or two?"

"Dear Commander. I shall keep you well informed as I love my people. But know." Garak gave Ajani his wolfish smile. "I am only a simple tailor Just Garak... Plain simple Garak."

Lise smiled. "Garak, I wish to see your winter collection the next time I meet you."

"I am sure that we will have time to at some point during our time here. Thank you for your time Mr Garak, i wish you good tidings as well." She nodded to the cardassian and then at Lise, ready for her to cut the transmission.

"Pleased Garak still loves his world and it's people enough to save them." Lise mentioned.

"That ties in with what I know" she continued once the communication had ended, "There is someone out there trying to destabilize an already teetering situation. We need to stop the immediate problem, which are the pirates, we can go from there."

"Take the pirates alive. Keep them separated. You'll be surprised what truths slip when one doesn't know what the other has told us and vice verse." Lise stated. "Longer they talk, the more we learn. Thugs are not masterminds so they do not know how to keep their mouths shut without motivation." Lise walked to her bookcase and pulled out a copy of the Complete Adventures of Sherlock Holmes. "Still useful in understanding Criminals despite its age. I'll let you borrow it for a time." She handed Ajani the book.

Ajani smiled "Thank you, and you are correct. Napping a few of the higher ranking pirates and encouraging them to talk will indeed be our best chance of finding more." She started to head for the door but had a thought "One more thing Lieutenant, our course is going to take us through a sector of space that is hidden behind a dense dust cloud. We know nothing about it and the records we got from the Cardassians are less than helpful. Have astrometrics ready to map the area as we pass please." With this done she nodded to the Science Chief and exited heading back towards her office.
