The Eagle was nearing the end of the night shift. Sanok had wakened early, and after some quick meditation, he decided to report for bridge duty a little early.

The Eagle was Sanok's first assignment after the Dennison disaster and his medical leave, so getting back to Starfleet security duty, was important for him to do. He was reminded of a Human saying: Get back on the horse. So that's what he was doing.

The ship dropped out of warp when a huge, unexpected dust cloud was detected. Further study revealed a massive gravity well and a black hole.

The captain, who had been in her ready room, called the XO and chief of science to come to the bridge.

"Captain. Singularity is irregular," said Granger. "Subspace sensors are useless with the dust cloud."

Sanok checked the tactical sensors. They were useless as well. He listened carefully as Granger talked about the singularity. He was interested, but the discussion stopped when The captain saw that the XO was unconscious and slumped in his chair. He was beamed off the bridge and sent to sickbay.

Sanok's return to duty had started off, as Humans say, with a bang.
