Mission: Episode 1: On Stranger Tides
Location: Deck 3 Security Department/Investigations Office
Timeline: MD03
713 words - 1.4 OF Standard Post Measure

After a couple of hours of fitful sleep, Finchley had risen, sonic showered and changed into a clean uniform. It was time he got acquainted with his office and equipment. Each posting he'd had, had been different, some had up to date equipment, some literally had things like a couple of cups and a lengths of string for communication and and a rolled up piece of paper for observation duties. He was hoping that it was the former he'd have on the Eagle, it'd be nice to have equipment he didn't need to hit with a hammer or rock to get it going!

Leaving his quarters on deck two, he soon found himself entering the Eagle's Security Department. As he did, an Ensign approached him and asked, "Welcome to Security, Sir, how can I help you?"

"Thank you, Ensign" Finchley replied "I'm actually looking for Lieutenant Sanok."

Turning and pointing a little further into the department, "That's Lieutenant Sanok there, Sir."

Finchley nodded and replied, "Thank you again, Ensign."

He watched as the Ensign smiled and then returned to what he'd been doing before. Finchley walked over to the person he'd been shown and said, "I'm sorry to interrupt you, I'm Investigations Intelligence Officer, Finchley Kerr, I've been asked to introduce myself to Lieutenant Sanok, Chief of Security, so that they can show me to my office."

Sanok was at his desk reading personnel files, but he stopped and looked up at the person addressing him. He hadn't been made aware there would be an intelligence officer coming on board.

"I'm Lieutenant Sanok. If you return to the ensign you just met, he can show you to your office."

Finchley looked round towards the Ensign, then back to the seated Vulcan Officer "Well, the CO did tell me specifically to come and meet you for that, but I'll just go and ask the Ensign."

He moved away from the desk back to the Ensign and said "Ensign, could you point out the Investigations office to me please."

"Certainly Sir, if you'll come this way" the Ensign replied, gesticulating open handed for Finchley to follow him. Within a few moments they arrived at the designated office and the Ensign said "This is Sir."

"Thank you again Ensign, most kind" Finchley replied.

"No problem Sir" the Ensign said, and made his way back to what he'd been doing.

Finchley meanwhile had a look around the office he now stood in and gave a low whistle, saying to himself "Not bad...not bad at all...it'll still need a few refinements...but on the whole...not bad at all."

Sanok watched Kerr as he went to his office. He wasn't sure why an intelligence officer had been assigned to the Eagle, but he would be keeping an eye on him.

"Computer, black out windows, seal the doors, stop all optical and voice activated recording devices in this room. Open a secure Intelligence link to Commander Harrison, IS Canberra Station, authorisation Kerr Gamma six one one Zulu" Finchley said.

==^==Windows blackened, doors sealed, all optical and voice activated devices stopped, secure Intelligence link to IS Canberra Station established==^==

"Nobody can trace it or decode it?" Finchley asked.

==^==Link is secure, untraceable and cannot be decoded==^==

"Good" Finchley replied "Begin message...This is Lieutenant Kerr, I've arrived safely on the USS Eagle and passed the message onto the Captain. Phase one of your request is now completed, though I will require more information on the...'Pirates'...out."

"Computer, close secure Intel link to IS Canberra Station, restart all optical and voice activated devices, unseal the doors and clear the windows" he said.

==^==Secure Intel link to IS Canberra Station closed, all optical and voiced activated devices restarted, doors unsealed and windows cleared==^==

Finchley nodded and sat down by the replicator and ordered an apple tea. As he took it, the aroma curled up to meet his nostrils...oh it smelt great.

Sanok watched Kerr turn into a super-secret agent. Intelligence officer were supposed to gather and disseminate information, but he had heard stories about them from other sec/tac personnel. Until Kerr proved otherwise, Sanok wasn't going to trust him.
